Help with rewrite code

Aug 3, 2007 at 10:27 AM
Hello,

I am trying to make requests for a URL of the form:

www.ourdomain.com/shopitemdesc.cfm?id=123&itemType=Clothing&desc=Description

be converted to:

www.ourdomain.com/Clothing/Description

or, better, to:

www.ourdomain.com/Clothing/Description .htm

Can this be done with the Ionic rewriter? I am trying to SEO the link basically.

Thanks,
Mark

p.s. need more examples for dummies.

Hi,

Tried, tried and failed miserably.

I use the testsdriver with these sample URLs.

shopitemdesc.cfm?id=123
shopitemdesc.cfm?id=123&itemType=Clothing
shopitemdesc.cfm?id=123&itemType=Clothing&desc=Sample-Item

with this:

RewriteRule ^/shopitemdesc.cfm?id=(^&)&itemType=(^&)&desc=(^&+)$ /$2/$1

and nothing matches. I just want to change the rewritten URL to:

/Clothing/Sample-Item

Seems simple, but nooo.

Please can someone point me right? There are PLUS signs before the end brackets. The formatting commands do not work on this forum for some reason.

Thanks,
Mark

can you quote your tests scripts so that we can read them? The "Wiki markup guide" which is visible on the right hand side of the browser window as you add a question or comment to a thread, tells you how to quote things. basically use 2 curly braces in a row: double-open-curly (quoted text here) double-close-curly.

also, check the readme for lots of examples.

maybe you want to try modifying one of the included tests .
