Check the documentation on the RedirectRule directive!

There are lots of examples.

Thanks for your response Cheeso . Does the following sound sane : RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^(www\.)?servername\.domainname\.com$ # Check is the host is www.myServer.myDomain.com RewriteRule ^/(\\google)$ http:/www.google.com [R=301] #if URL is www.myServer.myDomain.com/google then redirect to www.google.com

looks fine, but you're missing a slash before www.google.com .

what results did you see?

Hi Mate ,  this is how i ended up doing and it worked  . To make my test case simpler and isolate the problem I created a Test Website  which is part of a bigger project .Under the local ini file within the virtual folder in IIS  I am doing

RedirectRule  ^/TestIIRFV2/google$     http://www.google.com                                        So In my browser I type https://capella/TestIIRFV2/google(Capella is my Test Server ) .  Cheers!!! Thanks for your time so far :)

the documentation for the IirfGlobal.ini file describes what is supported in that file.
