Redirecting Subdomains

Hi all,

sorry, I'm a bit lost :-( I've read several posts here and tried several settings but none of them worked.....

My target:

All requests with a subdirectory except 'www' and 'beta' should be forwarded to http://www.mydomain.com/Overview.aspx?Parameter=%subdirectory%.

Examples

http://www.mydomain.com -> no change

http://beta.mydomain.com -> no change

http://mydomain.com -> http://www.mydomain.com

http://abc.mydomain.com -> http://www.mydomain.com/Overview.aspx?Parameter=abc

http://def.mydomain.com -> http://www.mydomain.com/Overview.aspx?Parameter=def

Current status:

I've added a A-Record for subdirectory * so I could already enter http://abc.mydomain.com. It is automatically redirected to http://www.mydomain.com but it does not appear in the IIRF log...? Is this maybe transfered somewhere else?

Many thanks in advance

There's an example in the documentation that does what you want.

see the "Example Ini Files" on the left-hand-side nav of the main documentation page.

Hi Cheeso, thanks for the fast reply. i guess you meant 'Virtual Hosts for users'? I've implemented that, but still without success. As mentioned about, any URL like http://abc.mydomain.com is transfered to http://www.mydomain.com even before it reached IIRF... I've then changed my IIS configuration as described here http://www.purpleant.com/Blogs/BrianSwanson/tabid/64/EntryId/144/Wildcard-sub-domain-for-Microsoft-IIS-and-DNS.aspx Now the URL is called correct and in my VB-Code I could check the URL and take the necessary actions so it seems I don't need IIRF for that. I've currently disabled it, but nevertheless it's a great product and maybe I'll come back to it later on. Many thanks for your support!!
