if a user types in http://www.domain.com/default.aspx  to do a rewrite to http://www.domain.com/directory1/directory2/default.aspx?

RewriteRule ^/(.*) /directory1/directory2/$1 [I,L]    (this didn't work)

what results did you get?   404?   And what happens if you surf directly to http://www.domain.com/directory1/directory2/default.aspx ?

If you are rewriting TO that URL, then  you should be able to request it directly.

Did you check the IIRF logfile?  Did you follow the instructions in "Verifying and Troubbleshooting installation" topic?  http://cheeso.members.winisp.net/IirfHelp/html/2c8a5c9b-473f-4e11-8b01-93d8a723d9f0.htm

I was getting a 404 error.  The problem was with the application pool.  Thanks.
