I've been keeping my eye open for a well-built, open source IIS ISAPI module that does not just URL rewriting but also URL proxying (URL rewriting across to another server).

How hard would it be to add this?

Thanks,
Jon

HARD.

It would be a significant piece of work.

It's a friendly addition to the function of IIRF, so I would welcome the input.

BUT, it's a big piece of work.

Are you offering?

Cool - maybe come up with a design?
Does it make sense to couple the URL rewriter with the proxy?  Or does it make sense to have them separate?
all the startup and logging could be common, which argues to combine them together.  But of course this is an open-source project so you could just cut-n-paste all that scaffolding and re-use it in a mod_proxy type filter.

what do you think?
